Bozeman eyes local sales tax to tap tourist dollars

On Monday night city commissioners went over the city’s goals for the upcoming legislature and lined up what the commission believes are their priorities.

With Mayor Carson Taylor and Deputy Mayor Cyndi Andrus both gone from the city commission meeting, all three city commissioners approved the goals for the upcoming legislative session.

"The schools have a tremendous demand being placed on them, regardless of the option they take it’s going to be fairly expensive," said Bozeman City Commissioner Chris Mehl. "And the public is telling us, loud and clear, that they are looking for property tax relief and there is a vehicle out there to provide that property tax relief that’s already working in many cities."
