Oregon Student Wins $100,000 Prize for Battery Technology

Portland high school student Vineet Edupuganti has won a prestigious, $100,000 scholarship prize in the 2016 Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology, the Siemens Foundation announced on Tuesday. Edupuganti’s project, "Development of a High-Performance Biodegradable Battery for Transient Electronics", involved the development of a biodegradable battery that can power ingestible medical devices that can track and diagnose conditions that affect internal organs. Edupuganti is a senior at Oregon Episcopal School in Portland.
