Montana Learning Center Announces Ryan Hannahoe as Executive Director

Helena, MT – The Montana Learning Center at Canyon Ferry Lake is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Hannahoe, an award-winning science teacher from Clancy School, as its new Executive Director. The Montana Learning Center (MLC) provides and promotes education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

Ryan teaches middle school science at Clancy School and has a long history in Montana helping at the MLC prior to becoming its Executive Director. The Montana Science Teachers’ Association recently honored Ryan as the 2016/2017 Distinguished Educator for Middle School Science. Ryan excites his students about learning, and aims to instill a life-long passion for learning in others.

Prior to teaching, Ryan worked for National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA) through Montana State University-Bozeman where he trained teachers and students about space science. His work includes time spent on the James Webb Space Telescope mission – the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope. He was named a John C. Mather Nobel Scholar for his efforts in education and public outreach at the NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center. Ryan has contributed to educational content for NASA and the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum.

Ryan came to MLC in 2013 and began leading the group’s summer educational camps for kids. He was responsible for obtaining funding for courses, as well as hosting developmental programs for teachers involved with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), called "STEM in the Rockies" and "Springtime in the Rockies."

MLC Board of Directors Co-chair, Walt Woolbaugh, has worked with Ryan for the last 12 years, "it is exciting to have Ryan’s leadership at the Montana Learning Center.
