Does a leader need to be skilled at each of the twelve emotional intelligence competencies in order to perform well?

That’s a question many people ask when they first encounter my model of emotional intelligence.

My response? You don’t have to master every competence to be outstanding. We each have our own formula for success, and everyone has their unique combination of strengths when it comes to EI. But the competencies don’t operate in isolation. They often work in clusters, working together for effective performance.
