Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation Gives $3.5M to Expand EdReady Statewide

In 2014 the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation http://www.dpwfoundation.org/ donated $2.4 million to the Montana Digital Academy http://montanadigitalacademy.org/ at the University of Montana to launch an innovative statewide math readiness program called EdReady Montana http://edready.org/ . Less than three years later, EdReady Montana has exceeded all expectations and inspired another generous gift of $3.5 million from the Washington Foundation to continue its critical work with Montana students.

The EdReady program was primarily designed by the National Repository of Online Courses, with the financial backing of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to help college-bound students avoid remedial coursework when they attend college. MTDA made the EdReady math program also available to teachers and administrators throughout the pre-K and K-12 system in Montana for free. Montana students, from elementary to adult learners, became the first in the nation to use this innovative tool on a statewide basis.
