Montana’s Record High Graduation Rate Bests National Average

Montana’s record-high graduation rate of 86 percent is nearly three percentage points above the national average. The U.S. Department of Education announced today that America’s high school graduation rate has reached a record high, 83.2 percent.

Since 2010, Montana’s graduation rate has increased nearly six percentage points, from 80.2 percent to 86 percent in 2015.

"Graduation Matters Montana is working across 58 communities to raise graduation rates and ensure all Montana students are prepared for college, the military, and careers," Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau said. "Montana’s historic graduation rate is proof that when communities come together, we can solve important issues."

In addition to achieving a record-high graduation rate, the number of dropouts in Montana is down by a third.
