Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) has an excellent opportunity for a Full-Time Regional Director to oversee the Northwest Montana Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

FVCC seeks a highly motivated and business savvy individual for the position of Regional Director to serve Flathead, Lake, and Lincoln counties. The responsibilities include but are not limited to collaborating with the Small Business Administration (SBA) through the SBDC Lead Center to develop and provided informational and financing tools to assist individuals with pre-business start-up planning and existing business expansion; providing confidential counseling services on a non-fee basis; developing workshops and seminars for pre-venture and business start-ups; and adhering to the Montana SBDC Program Standards and Policies.

Minimum requirements include:

* Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field AND five years of directly-related experience in lending, public accounting, business consulting, or business management; OR,

* Nine years of directly-related experience in small business or an economic development organization

* Local travel is required.

PAY RANGE: $40,000 – $50,000 depending on experience

SUMMARY

Provides business and entrepreneurial counseling and training services to small business persons within northwest Montana (specifically Flathead, Lake and Lincoln counties.) Follow management and operational practices based on ASBDC standards to most effectively operate the centers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Provides counseling services to small businesses including assistance with business planning; financial planning and analysis including commercial loan application; and market research and planning

* Collects data and other information to prepare business plans and financial forecasting for clients

* Assesses the needs of the local small business community and deliver consulting, business training programs and other services

* Strengthens working relationships with the SBA and other service providers to best serve the local small business community

* Complies with Lead Center processes and requirements

* Assists the Lead Center in the development of statewide private and public sector initiatives to increase and improve services to the small business community

* Reports client assistance activities into WebCATS and maintains client case management system

* Works with local media to promote favorable publicity and recognition for the SBDC

* Adheres to the SBA and ASBDC standards of conduct

* Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field AND five years of directly-related experience in lending, public accounting, business consulting, or business management; OR,

* Nine years of directly-related experience in small business or an economic development organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Master’s degree(s) from an accredited institution in a directly related field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

* Proficiency in preparation and presentation of business plans

* Knowledge of business financing practices and procedures including financial analysis, use of financial analysis to recommend action, establishment and maintenance of business accounting systems, analysis of financing options for business start-ups or expansions, and preparation of business financing packages

* Knowledge of loan programs and loan guarantees for business; venture capital investing, business taxation and business incentives

* Proficiency in preparing and presenting accurate written and oral summaries of financial analyses.

* Marketing planning and research skills

* Ability to manage portfolios of a variety of projects involving technical, administrative, management, and personnel support

* Knowledge and experience in preparation of annual performance measures and program goals.

* Ability to design and develop business education and outreach programs

* Ability to analyze and synthesize data from diverse data sources and produce reports to display information in a variety of forms

* Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods for improving program, management, and system process effectiveness

* Ability to direct, manage, and market a program to a geographically dispersed client base

* Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for MT SBDC and the College by interacting appropriately with the community

* Ability to work within policies and procedures of MT SBDC and FVCC

* Ability to occasionally work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc.

* Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships

* Ability to follow and issue directions

* Demonstrated communication, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds

* Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels

* This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
