Montana Eastern Plains is working with MedQuist, Inc.- How about your community?

Over 70 people in Eastern Montana are now making a good wage using a computer to work out of their home for Medquist Inc.

Eastern Plains is working with MedQuist, Inc. http://medquist.com/ and the Montana Job Service to establish and coordinate development of a training program to take advantage of potential job opportunities in the medical transcription field regionally.

by Ray Trumpower, Chairman Eastern Plains, Inc.

With the help of Senator Conrad Burns and US Senators from 5 surrounding states, the cost of tuition have been greatly reduced for those who qualify. An IT training grant was created and the Green Thumb organization was awarded part of it to help with this program. This is not affected by Green Thumbs normal requirements, everyone is eligible.

The Eastern Plains, Inc. held informational meetings in Baker in 2003, Broadus, Circle, Ekalaka, Forsyth, Glasgow, Glendive, Hysham, Jordan, Malta, Miles City, Plentywood, Scobey, Terry and Wibaux in 1998 and 1999. We are working on one in Terry right now. Training classes were held in Glendive, Plentywood, and Wibaux, and Malta. Training in a community is the result of the number and availability of qualified persons and cooperation among our communities, the Montana Job Service, MedQuist, and Eastern Plains Inc.

Medical transcription has good potential for home-based employment in eastern Montana. Medquist has a huge demand for their services nationwide and needs all the transcriptionists they can get. They would like to start a class per month to meet the need. There is potential for at least 160 more jobs in eastern Montana.

What we need is one interested person that wants to bring these jobs and this training to their community. If you are that person, call Mike Carlson at 433-5024 or contact your Eastern Plains council member. Every city, town, county, soil conservation district and tribal government in our 16-county area has a seat on our council. Check our web site at http://www.eprcd.org to see who represents your area.
