Law center seeks to bar banks from ending snail-mail billing

"My utility company keeps trying to get me to sign up for e-billing. Is that better than getting bills in the mail?" asked one lady after a recent presentation. It’s a question that comes up often as more and more companies switch to online billing.

I do most of my bill-paying electronically. For instance, my internet provider automatically charges my credit card. I use my financial institution’s "Bill Pay" feature for the power company. I’ve chosen to opt out of paper statements for several bills. Every utility I have sends me an email alerting me that the monthly bill is ready to view.
