If so, then you may be interested to know the Department of Labor and Industry is currently recruiting for an Economist.

This position will assist in and conduct research, analysis, and interpretation of labor market and economic data involving policy decisions, business initiatives, and economic development within Montana. The incumbent will serve as a technical expert on labor market and economic data and will utilize knowledge of economics and statistical analysis to answer questions about Montana’s economy and labor markets. Worker will be expected to think creatively about how to best use data to answer policy question, and will need to successfully manage projects start to finish, including assessing customer needs, performing appropriate data collection and analysis, and writing articles or reports to present findings. Strong writing skills are a must for this position, as the economist will be asked to write articles for the monthly publication, white papers on research topics, and memos for management and policy makers. Communications must present economic data and analysis to a variety of audiences, including supervisors, public policy makers, businesses, and others. Public presentations are infrequent, but will become more common with experience in the job.
