STEM Stars program aims to teach young girls the joys of science

What happens to your heart rate, your respiratory rate and your blood pressure when you exercise?

That’s what dozens of seventh- and eighth-grade girls found out first-hand Saturday morning, when they took part in Girls-n-Science STEM Stars at the Liberal Arts Building on the Montana State University Billings campus.

STEM Stars is a new addition to Girls-n-Science (formerly Chicks in Science), which introduces girls in grades four through eight to careers in science, technology, engineering and math. This was the event’s ninth year, and its major sponsor was Cloud Peak Energy.
