Google Reveals Details About Its Device-Centric Security Approach

Alphabet Inc. unit Google has published more details about its new approach to corporate security, which may serve as a model for other companies. In the paper, the Internet giant said that moving to a device-centric security model as opposed to a traditional scheme based on a user’s physical location has "substantially improved the security posture of Google."

The paper, published in the Spring issue of ;login, describes in detail the Internet giant’s BeyondCorp initiative, an alternative to the conventional approach of perimeter security using firewalls. CIO Journal first reported the existence of BeyondCorp in May 2015.
