University of Montana official says many students leave state for higher paying jobs

"I think a lot of them leave out of state, either because they grew up here and they want to try something different, or they need to go out of state to find a good paying job for their major," said Janay Whisman, the recruiting coordinator at UM Career Services.

"We have a company here, Submittable http://www.submittable.com
, that’s local and looking to add, I believe, 500 within the next few years. (It’s) a technology software company, so we’re hoping we see that trend change a bit (so) we can keep our students here in Missoula, but everything takes time," said Whisman.
