A Guide For Submitting A Renewable Energy Proposal to Northwestern Energyh

This publication provides information on how to submit a proposal to NorthWestern Energy for a small-scale renewable
electric energy generation project. It is intended to serve as a guide, and some of the material may not be relevant to your
project or renewable energy (RE) system.

NorthWestern Energy provides incentive funds for small-scale renewable energy (RE) projects in Montana. To qualify
for these funds, the customer must receive electric service from NorthWestern Energy.

NorthWestern Energy Montana
electric customers with an average load greater than 1 megawatt (1,000 kW) are not eligible for these renewable energy
incentive funds.

The RE incentive funds are intended to offset a percentage of the cost of a renewable energy system.
Customers interested
in receiving RE incentive funds must submit a proposal to NorthWestern Energy prior to purchasing or installing a RE
system, or they will not be considered for RE incentive funds.

The proposal may be submitted at any time during the year
and the application will be held by NorthWestern Energy until the next funding cycle. RE proposals are typically reviewed
and selected for funding twice each year.

Residential electric customers interested in receiving RE incentive funds for a solar PV installation should not
submit a RE proposal.
Incentive funds for residential solar PV systems are offered through qualified installers.
