Patty Aaberg & The Great Northern Bed & Breakfast – Hospitality and fine dining on the Hi-Line

It’s a cool chilly morning on the corner of U.S. Highway 2 and 1st Street East, in Chester, Montana where Patty Aaberg houses her many business interests.

In the charming old bank building, Aaberg manages Sweetgrass Music http://www.sweetgrassmusic.com/ (husband Phillip’s concert performances and recordings), the Great Northern Bed & Breakfast http://www.greatnorthernbandb.com/ , the Westland Suite http://www.westlandsuite.com/ , and fittingly, a more recent passion, her catering business.

Cooking is just a part of the B & B business as Aaberg discovered. At first, she was scouring her shelves of cookbooks for breakfast ideas. Then, as the numbers of fishing and hunting patrons increased, she put together signature box lunches of beef and roast turkey sandwiches. With more requests coming, Aaberg now caters dinners, receptions, funerals, and private parties.

A generous and hospitable hostess, Aaberg questioned whether the only B & B on the Hi-Line would be successful. However, she hastens to add that when she opened in 2004, on the first of January, she was surprised by the response. She had only two nights not booked.
