Missoula Update 2015: Mayor Engen sees growth, housing and water as top issues in 2016

n a recent Smithsonian magazine article, author Rick Bass described Missoula as the "perfect blend of town and country." Author John Krakauer called it a "typical college town," while Outside magazine labeled it a "mountain town with a surfing problem."
"When we crossed the 50,000 threshold in the mid-1990s and started worrying about becoming a city, that’s when we became a city," Engen said. "We’re just catching up with the fact that we’re already there, and it was just a matter of figuring out ways to acknowledge it."
