UM education conference intended to help enrollment rates
Yesterday was the first of a two day education conference at the University of Montana that is focusing on important and timely topics in higher education. With enrollment rates once again down, the UM is hoping this conference will allow for improvements that will put the school back on graduating high school student’s radars.
Organizers of the event say this conference will help address the university’s biggest problem – enrollment – by providing students with the necessary means to get a job after graduation.The conference is intended to identify initiatives that will help innovate its education program to 21st century standards.
It will detail how educators and students alike can prepare in engaged citizenry and a competitive workforce at the same time.

U.S. labor secretary discusses flexible work policies at Missoula roundtable
Workers shouldn’t have to win the “boss lottery” to receive family-friendly benefits such as paid maternity and paternity leave and flexible scheduling, according to U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez.
Perez, speaking to a group of business leaders during a stop in Missoula on Tuesday, was referring to the few forward-thinking companies that treat their employees as valuable assets worth nurturing and retaining.
