Montana Career Opportunity – Senior Accounting Position – Hi-Line Companies

SUMMARY: The position is responsible for directing, managing and participating in the fiscal operations of the Hi-Line http://www.hilinemoving.com/ and related Companies. This includes financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable and tax issues as well as frequent interaction with internal and external business partners.

DUTIES AND RESPONSILBILITES:

1. Monthly preparation of financial reports for management over all companies.

2. Annual preparation of financial statements for management and external users, Bank and Government (contracting) over all companies. Interact with external CPAs for preparation of reviewed financial statements across all companies.

3. Manage, direct and participate in the payroll process including preparation of required reports to governmental agencies.

4. Preparation of W-2 and 1099 reports at year end.

5. Manage, direct and participate in the business relationships with numerous external owner-operators.

6. Manage and interact with existing operations and accounting staff.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

1. Solid understanding of accounting principles as they apply to the Household Goods Moving Industry and of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

2. Ability to operate multiple software packages including Microsoft Office, accounting general ledger program, fixed asset software among others and on-line banking.

3. Strong functional understanding of employments and payroll laws.

4. Strong written and verbal skills required.

5. Ability to manage a hectic schedule with numerous daily interruptions.

6. Strong ability to understand and guide internal and external partners for type of entity and impact to business operations

7. Strong working understanding of difference between employee and independent contractor.

PHYSICAL AND TIME DEMANDS:

1. Occasionally requires additional work effort to accommodate fluctuations in work load caused by seasonality of business activity as well as fiscal (calendar) year reporting requirements.

2. Requires prolonged use of computers and monitors with periodic breaks.

3. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. may be required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business with accounting emphasis required. Certified Public Accountant license desired. Minimum 10+ years’ experience required with a minimum of 5 years in supervisory role.
