As Bozeman airport grows, Billings fights to keep up

It’s a busy Tuesday morning at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, and that makes director Brian Sprenger smile.
Outside, a busload of Chinese tourists arrives to catch a flight. Inside, travelers are milling through the newly renovated terminal, which features dark tiled carpets, stained wood, Western-style ceiling beams and stone facades.
It’s a Montana resort look in Gallatin County, a recreation destination that is catching fire nationwide. The airport, in turn, has undergone a massive growth spurt over the past five years, expanding its terminal, adding infrastructure and gaining flights and passengers.
