University of Montana medicine residency program gets $1.7M grant
August 6, 2015 /
The University of Montana’s medicine residency program got a big boost to help with training for primary care physicians. It’s a $1.7-million grant targeted to help rural health care.
The residency program is where graduates go after they finish medical school. It’s a real-world training ground where med school graduates spend three to five years preparing to be practicing physicians.
In the state of Montana, 53 of the state’s 56 counties are underserved when it comes to primary health care.
