Harris Manufacturing in Bonner, Montana Seeks to Fill the Employment Gap Left by Smurfit Stone’s Closure

A little more than five years have passed since Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. shuttered its Frenchtown mill, kicking some 400 workers to the curb and creating a void in Missoula’s heavy industry sector. Local officials and economic development groups have spent the intervening years rolling out the red carpet for numerous proposals that could fill part of that void. One of the latest–industrial fabricator Harris Manufacturing in Bonner–just got a $262,500 vote of confidence from the Montana Department of Commerce.
