Butte Local Development Corporation announces Pam Haxby-Cote as new executive director

The Butte Local Development Corporation http://www.bldc.net/ (BLDC) announced today that Pam Haxby-Cote has been chosen as its new Executive Director replacing Jim Smitham who recently announced his retirement. Haxby-Cote is a lifelong Montanan, born and raised in Butte and has devoted most of her career to economic development and creating jobs. She started her nearly 30-year career in economic development as the Deputy Director and Loan Officer at the BLDC. She has also served as the Community Development Director and Urban Renewal Director for Butte-Silver Bow Government, as the Senior Economic Development Specialist for Governor Brian Schweitzer, as the Butte Regional Director and Economic Development Director under Senator Jon Tester, and most recently, as the Regional Director of the Blackstone LaunchPad. Haxby-Cote has been very active in local and state community activities having served on many boards including the Highlands College Advisory Board and the Governor’s Equal Pay Taskforce.

According to Jim Bennett, President of the BLDC Board of Directors, "Pam brings with her a deep knowledge of economic development as well as a long list of involvement in local organizations and distinguished local and statewide recognition. We are excited to have Pam on board and look forward to the energy, passion, and vision she brings to her new position with the BLDC. We look forward to her work in continuing our efforts to make a positive impact on jobs and economic development for Butte."

Haxby-Cote is schedule to start effective Monday, August 3rd.
