Great Falls to hold resource fair to help laid-off Asurion employees on June 30

Asurion, the call center business that’s closing its downtown operation later this year, has agreed to allow a resource fair in its building. Several local agencies will give advice and answer questions from some 300 employees who are losing their jobs.

So far some 15 local support, education and business groups have agreed to set up tables in the Asurion business from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, said Cristina Capriato, community impacts coordinator for United Way of Cascade County.

Great Falls Job Service took a survey of employee needs during a visit shortly after Asurion announced on May 8 that it would close its operation in the former Bon Marche building at the corner of 4th Street and Central beginning in August. A relatively small number of the 348 employees are expected to continue to have Asurion jobs.
