Meet four start-ups that want to change the world

When D.C.-based start-up hub 1776 http://www.1776.vc/ was set up two years ago, the incubator tried to establish itself as the center of Washington’s tech scene. Co-founders Donna Harris and Evan Burfield envisioned a space — funded by a public-private partnership — that would foster the nascent tech industry in the capital.

Two years later, 1776 is aiming even higher.
