Montana Secretary of State creates new ‘civic engagement’ website

On Wednesday, May 13th, 2015 Secretary McCulloch launched a new civic engagement website http://sos.mt.gov/civics geared towards k-12 students, teachers and parents.

"It’s important to me that we build a culture around our children that teaches them that their lives are directly impacted by the decisions our government makes," Secretary McCulloch said. "Their voices matter and their voices are heard through the election process and through civic engagement."

The website showcases Montana civic leaders including Senator Mansfield who was integral in passing the 26th Amendment which allows 18-year-olds the right to vote, Lucille Otter a champion for voter registration and rights on Montana’s Indian Reservations and Maggie Smith Hathaway one of Montana’s first female state legislators.
