Kalispell Chamber gears up for summer with strong May and June luncheon panels

The Kalispell Chamber of Commerce announced today their luncheon lineup for both May and June. May’s luncheon, sponsored by Kalispell Regional Healthcare, will feature the Flathead Valley’s legislators and a review of the 64th Montana state session. In the last days of the 64th session, lawmakers tackled some of the toughest issues facing the state, including: the budget, Medicaid expansion, Water Compact, and state infrastructure. To enable the business community and the public to learn firsthand about these challenging issues from key legislators, a luncheon workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 19, at the Red Lion Hotel.

The May legislative panel will include:

* Senator Mark Blasdel, Chairman of the Joint Subcommittee on Statewide Information Technology

* House Majority Leader, Keith Regier

* Representative Frank Garner, representing Kalispell District 7

* Senator Bruce Tutvedt, Chairman of the Senate Tax Committee

* Senator Bob Keenan, Vice Chairman of Senate Finance and Claims

* Moderator: Mark Baker, Kalispell Chamber consultant in Helena

"Our May luncheon provides a unique opportunity for residents of the Flathead to better understand the latest legislation and how it will impact our region," said Kalispell Chamber President, Joe Unterreiner. "The Kalispell Chamber is pleased to partner with local legislators to ensure our residents are informed on the issues. It helps equip voters to make good decisions for our community."

The June luncheon, scheduled for June 16, will be led by an aviation panel. The panel will discuss recent and upcoming commercial air service expansions in the Flathead Valley routes, which will enlarge upon commercial routes to Los Angeles, Chicago, and Portland previously secured. At the June luncheon workshop, local experts will also provide the results of the community-based revenue guarantee program of AERO for United Airlines winter direct service to Chicago and update attendees on plans for future commercial air service plans.

Cindi Martin the general manager of Glacier Park International Airport and Dan Graves, chief executive officer of Whitefish Mountain Resort will each participate on the June panel. Paul Johannsen, President of AERO, a community-based organization advocating for new airline service, will join Martin and Graves for the workshop.

Both luncheons will take place at the Red Lion Kalispell Center Hotel from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 19 and Tuesday, June 16, respectively. The luncheon is open to the public and tickets are $19 each and the public is welcome to attend for free, without lunch.
