Commission endorses Bozeman Fiber optic nonprofit to increase high-speed Internet
May 5, 2015 /
Efforts to develop a community-owned fiber optic network to increase high-speed Internet in Bozeman took a step forward Monday evening when city commissioners voted unanimously to create a nonprofit to manage the system.
The nonprofit, Bozeman Fiber, will be governed by a seven-member board including representatives from the public and private sector. While the city will have a representative on the board, the nonprofit will otherwise operate independently, including raising its own money.
