Lettuce Be Local builds on farm-to-chef links

It’s been three years since Lynn and Lee Stromberg decided to follow their dream of connecting local Massachusetts growers to the food and restaurant industries.

The couple recognized a shared need between restaurant owners and farmers, who were stretched thin to find the time to bring the produce to the eateries. The Strombergs developed a test pilot for 14 months using one restaurant and 10 farms, sourcing local produce to the restaurant on a regular basis.

The result: Lettuce Be Local today connects more than 70 farms and 20 restaurants, and it serves as an aggregate for dozens of farms via email.
