Oakland family funds state of the art field of dreams for Montana high school

Out of the blue, a stunningly green, artificial football field http://www.usatoday.com/longform/life/my-montana/2015/04/09/family-funds-field-dreams-glendive/25519317/ appears in a bowl off of main street in this town.

The turf alternates different shades of green every five yards, and the field is surprisingly soft. A huge scoreboard overlooks it all. During games, it shows instant replays.

Circling the gridiron is an oval track made of polyurethane that would look at home at the Olympics.

By the looks of it, this could be the home field of the Grizzlies of the University of Montana in Missoula, or the Bobcats at Montana State University in Bozeman.

But the Oakland Athletic Complex at Perham Field, which features an NFL-caliber football field and international-level track, is the new home of the Dawson County High School Red Devils in Glendive, Mont.
