The big data disconnect between the C-Suite and Staff (and why it matters)

A good chief executive is aggressive about implementing the right emerging technologies to help the business. Rather than acting as a drag on technology spending, the best CEOs are champions of new technologies that can help them increase revenue, decrease costs and streamline processes.

But the problem with leaders who are bullish to a fault about a specific technology’s advantages is they can create a disconnect between their perceptions and reality on the ground. So much so that when CEOs find out that results are not meeting their expectations, they’re disappointed. And a disappointed CEO generally is trouble.

A recent executive survey by data warehousing and analytics vendor Teradata shows a disconnect between how CEOs assess the status and benefits of their enterprises’ data initiatives and the impressions of lower-level managers:
