Local transportation and economic experts combine to address at-risk Kalispell Bypass and Federal Highway Bill at March Chamber luncheon

The Kalispell Chamber of Commerce announced today that it will host a panel to discuss the possible expiration of the federal highway bill and how that may impact the Kalispell Bypass at its upcoming March luncheon. With the bypass at risk, the community’s transportation needs will take center stage at the luncheon, set for March 24.

The panel will include five of the area’s leading transportation and economic experts, and will be moderated by Jim Lynch. Lynch is the former Director of the Montana Department of Transportation, owner of NUPAC paving company in Kalispell, and a past chairman of the board for the Kalispell Chamber.

Lynn Zanto, administrator for the Transportation Planning Division of Montana Department of Transportation, and Tom Jentz, planning director for the city of Kalispell, will join Lynch. The panel will also include Kellie Danielson, president of Montana West Economic Development and Jeff Claridge, owner of Kalispell-based highway contractor, LHC.

The panel will discuss state funding and how the federal highway bill will impact the Kalispell Bypass. In addition, experts will weigh in on the urban renewal of Kalispell’s core area, and how large-scale construction projects affect both the Flathead Valley and the state of Montana.

"As Kalispell continues to expand, a strong transportation plan is critical to healthy growth. The goal of this panel is to help educate and empower Kalispell residents so that they may advocate for an infrastructure that supports a positive future for our community," said Kalispell Chamber President Joe Unterreiner.

The luncheon will take place at the Red Lion Kalispell Center Hotel from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 24th. The luncheon is open to the public and tickets are $19 each. The public is invited to attend for free, without lunch.
