Montana Lawmakers asked to OK $15 million for university research
February 3, 2015 /
At a panel hearing Monday, members of the Joint Appropriations Subcommittee on Education were asked to OK $15 million in general fund spending on university research as part of Gov. Steve Bullock’s budget proposal.
During the meeting, Commissioner of Higher Education Clayton Christian said the state’s university system would use the money to grow the state’s economy by developing new ideas in university research labs that could be scaled up by industry.
