Montana tourism industry grows to nearly $4 billion

Montana’s tourism industry has hit a new high with a new report showing nearly $4 billion spent by travelers in 2014.

According to preliminary data published by the Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research at the University of Montana, approximately 11 million nonresident travelers visited Montana last year. Roughly the same number of people visited in 2013, however, the money spent by those visitors in 2014 increased 10 percent from $3.62 billion to $3.98 billion. That’s the highest on record.
