Hackathons present students with the opportunity to showcase their work and code for large prizes from technology companies.

After his team placed third at VTHacks, Christopher Wang, who is majoring in computer engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, received an invitation to interview at Microsoft, a subsequent software internship offer and an all-expense-paid excursion to explore Seattle.

From establishing his reputation through these competitions, Wang was also recruited to join multiple startups.
