Small Business Saturday kicks off Saturday, Nov. 29. – Flathead Valley’s 2014 Small Business Saturday full of activities for holiday shoppers.

On November 29, local businesses will kick off the holiday season with Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday, organized by the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, is set for the day after Black Friday. The event champions a day for consumers to shop small.

Small Business Saturday presents a unique opportunity for small businesses to showcase the variety and quality of goods made locally in the Flathead Valley. From comic books and computer repair to camping gear and dining establishments, Small Business Saturday supports all types of retailers and service providers.

For the Kalispell community, all participating small businesses will be featured in the Kalispell Chamber’s Small Business Saturday map, published in the November 26 edition of the Flathead Beacon. Copies of the map with participating Kalispell businesses will be distributed valley-wide and will be available at the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce.

Shoppers are encouraged to participate in Kalispell’s Small Business Saturday Passport to Holiday Shopping. A passport can be found in the Flathead Beacon’s Small Business Saturday tab insert. Once a shopper purchases from a participating small business, they will receive a stamp on their passport. After obtaining stamps from three different participating businesses, completed passports can be dropped at the Kalispell Chamber or any Kalispell Chamber Member Business listed on the event map. Those who enter will have a chance to win a $50 American Express gift card.

"In its fifth year, we anticipate Small Business Saturday will be a rewarding event for small businesses, residents, and our Canadian neighbors alike," said Kalispell Chamber President Joe Unterreiner. "With more than 60 businesses committed to the event, we are excited to see the community’s dedication to Shop Small."

The Kalispell Chamber will be open from 9am to 4pm on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. During these days, the Chamber will provide information, answer questions, and serve hot coffee.

The event is supported by a national and local advertising campaign, fully financed by American Express and the Kalispell Chamber, respectively. The Flathead Beacon will feature a Small Business Saturday event insert, including a map of all participating businesses, special deals and promotions for the event, as well as the Passport to Holiday Shopping. The insert will be available November 26.
