Bullock proposes budget with new form of Medicaid expansion, plus $45 million for infrastructure
Gov. Steve Bullock on Monday released his proposed budget for the 2016-2017 biennium that includes a new way to expand Medicaid, a voluntary pre-kindergarten program and a $300 million commitment for infrastructure projects statewide.
His plan would expand Medicaid, which covers 70,000 low-income Montanans.
Bullock proposed extending for two more years a tuition freeze for Montana residents at college campuses around the state. A freeze was first approved in 2013 by the Legislature and Montana Board of Regents.
He also called for continuing "historic investments into the K-12 public education system" made in 2013.
