Governor Bullock outlines 2015 legislative priorities

Near the top of the governor’s agenda is Medicaid expansion. Bullock and Montana Democrats want to qualify an estimated 70,000 low-income Montanans for the health care program by changing the rules.

Montana has been recognized as the most fiscally prudent state in the nation, Bullock said. He wants to continue being fiscally responsible by creating a statutory reserve.

The governor listed political transparency on his agenda for the next session.

Time and again the Legislature has failed to provide the resources to improve mental health services, Bullock said. He’s making it a priority in 2015.

For months, Bullock has been promoting pre-kindergarten education, saying that the Legislature needs to start a statewide program with a $37 million appropriation.
