Graduation Matters helps cut down on high school dropouts in Montana

It wasn’t long ago that when Crystal LaMere was called into the principal’s office, it was because she was fighting with other students and skipping class.

Now, the C.M. Russell sophomore is there to share ideas and plans to make sure all of her classmates graduate on time.

LaMere is one of 50 middle and high school students who drive the student arm of the Graduation Matters http://graduationmatters.mt.gov/ initiative, which in Great Falls has cut the number of high school dropouts in half.

Great Falls accounts for 101 of the 700 additional students statewide who graduated last year compared to just three years ago before Graduation Matters began as a partnership between United Way and school districts.
