Billings educators make pitch for ‘teacher-leaders’

One by one, seven Billings teachers explained their ideas to administrators who had dropped by to listen.

Their pitches were succinct and pithy. They contained problem statements and proposed solutions. One was packaged as a fairy tale and told through a computer slideshow. Personal copies of the business bestseller "Good to Great" lay on table.

The teachers weren’t quite asking for start-up cash, but they did want to show that their ideas are worth investing in. And while they might not call themselves entrepreneurs, they felt a similar blend of guts and nerves.

They are part a national effort to develop a cohort of teacher-leaders who can influence their local and national education systems while remaining in the classroom.
