Tom Facey, a retired high school teacher, said research has shown that spending on early childhood education is a good investment for the state. It will pay off with a better-educated population, lower rates of incarceration and other benefits, he said.

Bullock promotes pre-K initiative as nonpartisan

Providing preschool for 4-year-olds shouldn’t be a partisan issue, Gov. Steve Bullock said Monday, speaking about his forthcoming $37 million early childhood education proposal.

At least it hasn’t been in many of the other 42 states that dedicate state dollars to pre-K, Bullock said.

"We know that we can do so much more for our children that will not only impact that child but will lead to a more productive community," Bullock said.
