Gallatin economy growing, state slowing

Economist Pat Barkey took the microphone and tried to pump up the crowd of roughly 50 people quietly picking at provided lunches in a dimly lit hotel ballroom Tuesday afternoon.

"We’re talking about the Bozeman economy here. We should be breaking out the party hats here," Barkey said, eliciting a lukewarm cheer from the back left corner of the room.
