Program helps at-risk Montana youth get work experience – Opportunities Inc.

Program Coordinator Diane Willson said the program is intended to help youth who are struggling with school or other issues gain a positive career focus.

Opportunities Inc. http://www.gfoppinc.org/ staff members help the participants assess their needs and learn such "soft" job skills as showing up for work regularly, on time, and with a desire to be team players getting tasks down, she said. The federal government pays the cost of their minimum wage jobs, while the employers supervise and provide hard job skills to the novice workers, such as how to be a dog groomer, do office tasks or perform preliminary construction or mechanic tasks.
