5 Missoula schools to provide free meals for all students

Starting this fall, as many as 1,700 Missoula County Public Schools http://www.mcpsmt.org/site/default.aspx?PageID=1 students will receive free breakfasts and lunches.

Already, students at Franklin, Hawthorne, Lowell, and Russell elementary and C.S. Porter middle schools receive free breakfasts, but a new provision through the national school lunch and breakfast programs will provide the students with free lunches as well – regardless of their families’ income.

The change has MCPS supervisor of food and nutrition Stacey Rossmiller excited about improving nutrition and behavior in buildings.

"It’s going to allow us to reach more kids in those schools," Rossmiller said
