In a step toward making 3-D printers mainstream, a dozen Home Depot stores nationwide, including those in Emeryville, East Palo Alto and San Carlos, are now showcasing models from MakerBot Industries, a leading maker of consumer 3-D printers and scanners.
"Have you seen a 3-D printer before? You wanna look at it? You should come over," Esha Horton said to curious looky-loos who flocked to the MakerBot kiosk. Horton is a "retail operator" for MakerBot at Home Depot, doing continual demonstrations of the devices.
