Butte bid passed over for federally funded manufacturing hub, says Matt Vincent

Butte was among more than 70 communities across the country that applied to become a National Network Manufacturing Innovation Center, joining a few others already announced by President Barack Obama.

Vincent said the 12 new locations chosen by the U.S. Department of Commerce were all densely populated areas and none of them concentrated on natural resources as its major strength, which is what Butte and its private and public partners in Montana did.
