City Club Missoula Presents: Montana Dams - A Great Opportunity, 6/9, Missoula, Montana
|June 2, 2014||View for printing|
Heather Grahame, vice president and general counsel of NorthWestern Energy, will tell City Club Missoula why her company wants to buy the same 11 hydroelectric dams, storage reservoir and related assets from PPL Montana that Montana Power Co, NorthWestern's predecessor, sold about 15 years ago.
Grahame will explain why the hydro facilities are a "great fit" for Montana and NorthWestern's customers, how the $900 million deal will impact communities and customers and what is the status of the transaction.
The agreement with PPL Montana, Ms. Grahame says, is a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" for NorthWestern and its customers to acquire clean, renewable sources of electricity allowing the utility "to provide stable rates to its customers over the long term."
Grahame has served in her current position at Northwestern Energy since 2010. Among her responsibilities are legal affairs, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission compliance, and risk and records management. She previously practiced law in Anchorage for 27 years, mostly in private practice representing public utilities before state and federal agencies and in court. She is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Oregon School of Law. While in Alaska she was a competitive cyclist and sled dog racer.
