2014 Mountain Madness Airshow opens volunteer opportunities

Volunteers offered chance to earn funds for charity of choice

For the first time in nine years, the Flathead Valley will experience an airshow. For some, this will be a chance to volunteer in an exciting community event while fundraising for local non-profits and scoring free event admission.

The 2014 Mountain Madness Airshow volunteers will earn a portion of parking or concession commissions and those funds will go to help a charity of the volunteer’s choice. Non-profits can also organize a team to staff a concession stand or parking lot throughout the weekend.

The Kalispell Chamber is seeking approximately 50 volunteers, preferably from one or two organizations, to manage parking. Volunteers who participate on the parking team will receive additional funds, above and beyond what other volunteer positions offer, to benefit their charity of choice.

In addition to helping area organizations, volunteers will receive free admission to one day of the show as well as complimentary food and beverage during the event.

"Volunteers have the chance to help make the 2014 Mountain Madness Airshow the largest and most exhilarating airshow in Montana history. It’s also an opportunity to give back to our community and ensure we continue to enjoy airshows in years to come," said Chris Parson, airshow director and vice president for the Kalispell Chamber.

Organizers from the Kalispell Chamber are seeking volunteers ages 15 and up to be available for eight to 10 hours on both Saturday and Sunday. By June 1, most volunteer opportunities will be filled.

The 2014 Mountain Madness Airshow features the USAF Thunderbirds showcasing the pride and precision of the United States Air Force. The event takes place this August 30 and 31, 2014. Kalispell Chamber officials anticipate an estimated 30,000 spectators will attend over the two days from both the Flathead Valley and areas such as Great Falls, Missoula, Spokane and Alberta.
