Education crucial to Montana’s economy

In the rapidly innovating global economy, it is irresponsible to think our education system can stand still and wait for good jobs to fall in our laps.

People from every corner of the state tell me they’re concerned income is not keeping up with the cost of living. Working families value our outdoor heritage and the Montana way of life – but often are living paycheck to paycheck to do so. To make ends meet under the Big Sky, we need to strengthen our economy for the long haul. One surefire way is prioritizing our education system and elevating the skills of all workers.

As the father of two children, I want to ensure my kids and all children have the best education possible. Unfortunately, it’s a low priority in a dysfunctional Congress. Thanks to partisan gridlock, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act hasn’t been reauthorized since 2001.
