The MDT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program encourages and supports the participation of companies owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in transportation contracts.

At the University of Montana, the Data Science Initiative (DSI) focuses on "Big Data" analytics, offering courses and expertise in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and marketing analytics. Researchers use data analytics to address challenges in health care, ecology, remote sensing, biomedical research, ‘omics’, geosciences, and many other disciplines. The DSI also focuses on cybersecurity, offering courses in information assurance and network security.
