DOD Announcement Good News for Great Falls!

Bear Paw Development Corporation is a private non-profit organization created for the purpose of administering programs to help improve regional economic conditions in Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau and Phillips Counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy's Indian Reservations.

DOD announced this morning that it will keep all of the existing 450 ICBM missile silos, including the 150 Malmstrom AFB silos, in warm status. No missile squadrons will be eliminated. Missile count will be reduced by 50 across the three missile bases, but keeping the silos in warm status will allow USAF to perform maintenance and renovation work on missile silos while rotating missiles between the silos.

This announcement is good news for Great Falls! It provides stability while we continue to grow and diversify our private sector economy. Keeping all missile silos in warm status is better than we had hoped for.
